Rags to Riches

Yesterday I viewed Sami's video on You Tube at witchontherocks, and got the inspiration for this blog. Basically what was instructed to do was to go for a walk in nature, any place you want and find something that you deem a piece of ugly junk. Then you write a paragraph about why you feel that way and then "reprogram" your mind to find the beauty and gracefulness and from there write a paragraph about your appreciation for that item.

I though wow, what a great way to start blogging since I have been stuck on how to begin. However, after some thought, I knew this would end up happening, I went for a 2 mile walk in my neighborhood and honestly couldn't find anything that was awful, or blah or whatever.

Now I don't live anywhere fancy, but I love my neighborhood. It is absolutely breathtaking. Just about every home looks as if a gardener or landscaper frequents that home. Some don't even have flower gardens but their trees and bushes and yards are perfectly maintained. It is just so beautiful and well taken care of, which it nice because I have lived in some pretty run down places. So kind of surprisingly I had a very hard time choosing something. I walked and walked, and looked and looked and when I got to the road of businesses I seen this little shop and remembered how I felt about it when I first moved here 8 months ago.

Well I live in Ohio and things like pools, lakes, amusement parks and ice cream shops are closed down for most of the year. So I moved here in December and of course I went around checking everything out, learning, where everything is located, and I seen this little family owned ice cream shop called Scoops at the corner of the street I live on. It was closed, and my first thought from looking at it was that it had to be closed for good. I mean why wouldn't the owners fix it up, and who would eat from there even if it was just ice cream. And just wow someone should just fix it or tear it down. It honestly is the worst building in the whole 2 mile radius that I walked today. Granted there were a couple plain apartments, houses, and stores, but not ugly or run down.

So a couple months go by and I believe it was in May that me and my man took a walk and we saw that the little ice cream shop had opened for business. And honestly not my idea at all, we went there to get something to cool us off. To my surprise they had all kinds of food, drinks and homemade ice cream. How great is that? And the best part is that every single day they have a special, single items get marked down to a dollar, or you get something free with the purchase of something particular, and well you get the hint, if you are on a very tight budget and want a refreshing treat, Scoops is the place to be. So this is how I came to love and support this shop. It's family owned, in a small town, only open for maybe half the year and they give great discounts on their already great prices. How can you not put the view in your rearview and appreciate the savoring taste of homemade ice cream.
