The first thing I tried was to let the plant dry completely out. I realized the reason for my mold was over watering. I wasn't over watering all of them but of course different types of plants require different care. Anyway that was not working. Next, I removed the molded soil by scooping out the top layer. And then I topped of each plant with new soil and sprinkled cinnamon on top.
Boy did that smell good for awhile. And also it worked for about 2 weeks. I do believe that the cinnamon helped. Also during all of this I have had little flags and rubber animals and a few memento's decorating my plants. I left them out until 2 days ago. When I placed them back into the plants and watered them now today I have a little mold on half of them. I took care of 2 of them. Made a horrible mess but got it cleaned up immediately. This is what I decided to try, and what this blog is about. In a month if they are better I will post this.
First I went ahead and got rid of all the soil, just in case. Then I cleaned the pots and water holders. I went outside and found some rocks. I placed a layer of rock on the bottom of the pot and then replanted with new organic soil. After filling, I watered the dry soil. When I was completely finished I went around to all my beautiful lovely plants and sprinkled cinnamon. I guess I'll find out if it works. I may have to do all of my plants which is fine with me. A really awesome thing that happened is that on one of my plants I had a round pot, it was a layered design. I really thought that it was one pot with a layered rim, but when I transported everything I found out it wasn't layered at all, it was 5 pots stacked upon each other. Totally awesome stuff.
Now it is a month or two later. I have no mold on my plants. I replanted every plant, layered the bottom with rocks, sprinkled Cinnamon in all of them, left all decorations out of them and watered each of them with 1/2 cup of water about every 2 weeks. Now they are mold free. Finally.
